Verona International Film Festival Unveils Award Winners of 2024 Edition.
The Verona International Film Festival concluded its 9th edition this week at the Multisala Rivoli, located right in the heart of the historical city center. The festival team would like to thank all guests for their enthusiasm. A big thank you also to all filmmakers for sending in their work. Out of over a thousand of submissions, 24 wonderful films from Italy and around the world made it to the final selection for 2024.
Kris De Meester, festival director "This year's festival was a testament to the powerful emotions that cinema evokes, especially when exploring the complexities of human relationships. Our films have always sought to challenge and confront audiences, and the reactions we witnessed were as raw as they were beautiful. One particular film, which delved deeply into gender fluidity, sparked the most intense response—so much so that a portion of the audience chose to leave. Interestingly, it was the younger adults who found it too confronting, while our more seasoned viewers remained engaged. This dynamic only reaffirms the importance of creating space for dialogue, even when it's uncomfortable."
